26 Mar Managing Essential Services During COVID-19 Outbreak
The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly and we wanted to take this opportunity to advise you of the business activities of ESM Compliance.
It is of the utmost importance to us that your sites are safe and compliant. This virus is certainly the focus of most people’s attention at the moment, however if normal ESM services are not continued it’s very difficult to say what the limit of liability may be in the case of any incidents, or risk the possible denial of insurance coverage. Property owners and occupiers still have legal obligations to keep their buildings safe and maintained, and together we can work to achieve this despite the pandemic the world is currently facing.
Health and Safety
We value the health and safety of our staff, clients and community above all else, and we realise that whilst the viral threat continues, the threat of potential safety risks to those who aren’t continuing with the ESM requirements is also growing.
That’s why we have developed a COVID-19 Prevention and Infection Control Policy that outlines the steps our company and employees are taking so that we can safely continue operating.
Site Accessibility
Understandably, some people aren’t comfortable with people visiting their sites at the moment or their businesses are currently closed. This is a valid choice given the current climate, however it needs to be clear that any overdue ESM auditing or maintenance does place the property owner at risk in the case of any incidents.
We will send clients a summary of any sites at the end of each week that we have been unable to access and we will work with property managers / owners towards the best solutions to ensure these are rescheduled or otherwise addressed.
In the meantime, when in communication with your tenants please assure them that ESM Compliance is implementing a multitude of health and safety precautions and all staff have undergone the government’s COVID-19 Prevention and Infection Control training. Social distancing and excellent hygiene measures will be adhered to all times.
